Kent Widmayer oversees all desktop computing support for the Division of Student Affairs. This includes software application support, hardware support, and network support.

We are assisted by a part-time student employee, Martin Graebner.

Kent is responsible for:

  • Performing the initial set-up of all DSA computers including:
    • Hardware configuration
    • Operating system and network software installation (Microsoft Windows and Novell)
    • Application software installation (such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer, Netscape)

  • Aiding users with difficulties with various software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Providing front-line support for Internet use such as email and Internet connectivity.

  • Aiding users with hardware difficulties. Troubleshooting problem and arranging for hardware upgrades if necessary.

  • Coordinating with other IT groups on campus to better provide technical support to the Division.

  • Researching and staying abreast of current technology trends including computing security, virus protection, and software updates.
