Kent Widmayer oversees all desktop computing support for the Division of Student Affairs. This includes software application support, hardware support, and network support. We are assisted by a part-time student employee, Martin Graebner. Kent is responsible for: - Performing the initial set-up of all DSA computers including:
- Hardware configuration
- Operating system and network software installation (Microsoft Windows and Novell)
- Application software installation (such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer, Netscape)
- Aiding users with difficulties with various software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Providing front-line support for Internet use such as email and Internet connectivity.
- Aiding users with hardware difficulties. Troubleshooting problem and arranging for hardware upgrades if necessary.
- Coordinating with other IT groups on campus to better provide technical support to the Division.
- Researching and staying abreast of current technology trends including computing security, virus protection, and software updates.
